Jess King releases Here and Now tribute to those living with dementia
Dementia Spring and Jess King announce the distribution of Here and Now, an original song written and performed as a tribute to those who are dealing with memory loss and dementia. Here and Now is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Here and Now was inspired by Jess’s personal experience with dementia and dedicated to all those affected by it, patients and caregivers alike. Inspired by her father’s transition from dementia more than 2 years ago, King says the song encompasses a wider compassion for this population that she began developing as a child visiting her mother at work at a rehabilitation center.
“Here and Now comes from a place of trying to change the conversation around dementia,” King said. “Shifting our mindset—and really our heartset, our heart openness—can be so powerful.”
In addition to King, Here and Now features a talented group of veteran musicians, including vocalist Kitten Kuroi, multi-instrumentalist Angie Swan, and violinist Lisa Dondlinger. The song was produced by Jake Pace Music and recorded by Licorice Pizza Records. Dementia Spring Foundation—a nonprofit organization that supports programs and art initiatives in the dementia community—provided support through its annual Arts Impact Awards.
“The first time we heard Jess play a few bars of Here And Now on her home keyboard we just knew it would touch the hearts of everyone who has ever felt the weight of dementia in their own lives,” said Dr. Marc Rothman, founder of Dementia Spring.
