Welcome to Dementia Spring!
If you’re searching for answers to questions about dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, if you’re ready to share your story of living with or caring for someone with dementia, or if you’re wondering what’s new and innovative in dementia research and care, you’ve come to the right place.
As an internist, a geriatrician and a specialist in aging, dementia and end-of-life care, I’ve seen firsthand the effects of dementia on my patients, their loved one’s and caregivers over the past 20 years. And I’ve seen it in my own friends and family too.
I know how hard it can be to find useful information that’s free from complicated medical jargon. I’ve been moved and humbled as more and more people bravely come forward to share their stories of living with memory loss or caring for a loved one with dementia, debunking the myths and assumptions that surround these complex, chronic diseases. And I have been amazed by the sheer number of entrepreneurs and innovators who have turned their creative minds to the problems to aging and dementia, developing new technologies that can help people with dementia lead vibrant, healthy, connected lives.
With all that in mind I created Dementia Spring.
Here on the DementiaSpring.org web site you can read about what’s new in aging and dementia research, care and support.
In our Dementia Diaries section you can share with us and each other what it’s like being diagnosed with or living with dementia.
In our Dementia Spring Q+A videos you can find answers to common questions about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, or you can pose a question yourself.
And each month on our Dementia Spring Dialogues podcast I’ll be chatting with thought leaders and entrepreneurs about new tools and technologies designed specifically with older adults and people with memory loss in mind.
So I invite you to join our Dementia Spring community. Sign up for our monthly newsletter on the DementiaSpring.org home page. Explore the site and give us your feedback. And please share your story or submit a question for us to address.
I know that dementia is as scary a diagnosis as any other disease you may face, but with so much happening in the dementia community today I’m optimistic that we will face it and overcome it together.
Thanks for sharing some of your very valuable time with me today, and I look forward to seeing you at Dementia Spring real soon.
