Dementia Immersion Takes the Stage: How a Performer Brought the Dementia Experience to Her Audience

KR Riiber is a visual artist, writer, performer and current Artistic Director of The Neo-Futurists Theater in Chicago, IL. In this artist feature, she discusses the creation of Tangles & Plaques, a play about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia that truly immerses the audience in the experience.

KR was inspired to create this performance when she began her day job as an activity director at a local retirement community. She saw a unique parallel between theater and memory care, so she decided to collide her two worlds.
